Visual identity

Self-initiated for private event.
L+J. Loud + Juicy. Laughs + Joy. Lights + Jams. A visual identity for a shared birthday rave grounded in structure, and charged with kinetic energy. The identity revolves around the initials “L+J” as a sign of multiplicity: Lotte and Jan, but also plus-ones, pluralities, the welcomeness of spontaneity, the invitation of multiple identities, and just more of everything. The plus sign acts as both icon and engine, morphing across formats as logo, connector, ornament. Its recognisability shifts as it takes on different forms, while remaining another anchor throughout the system.
Built as a flexible visual system, the identity makes space for both experiment and logic in equal measure. Underlying it is a set of design rules — modular grids, variable type, spatial ratios — that provide structural backbone without dictating final form. This framework enables each application to recompose itself: the system shifts, but never breaks. Unexpected formats and mundane objects carry the same visual weight as posters or screens, extending the identity across scale and context.
That’s where the fun sits: in the friction between constraint and play. The palette pulls from beloved rave ephemera, with high-acid tones and unmistakable presence. The identity moves quickly, adapts freely, and holds together without ever standing still.
